Borough councils that still treat moths
A council visit is an insecticide treatment, booked into the borough's own schedule, and usually only for homes in that borough. It is often the cheapest choice. A private firm can come sooner, offers heat, and will treat lets, shops and offices.
| Borough | What is included | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Hammersmith and Fulham | One visit, up to three rooms | £150 |
| Camden | One visit, priced by bedrooms | £172.22 to £375.97 |
| Lambeth | Up to two visits, two rooms | £189.60 |
| Haringey | Visits included | £199 |
| Kensington and Chelsea | Four visits, one or two rooms | £354.40 |

Questions about cost
How much does moth treatment cost in London?
Most London homes pay £150 to £220 for one wardrobe or room, £240 to £330 for a two or three visit course and £330 to £450 for a whole home or heavy carpet damage, including VAT. Heat treatment starts at £534.
Why is moth treatment dearer in London?
Travel time, parking, the Congestion Charge and higher wages all go into a London price. The cost guide we use puts London and the South East about 20 to 30% above the North of England, Wales and Scotland.
Is heat treatment worth the extra cost?
It can be when good rugs, upholstery or a lot of wool are involved, when a spray course has already failed, or when you want insecticide kept off your belongings. For a single wardrobe, a spray course at £150 to £220 usually does the job.
Is a council treatment cheaper?
Often, if your borough offers one. In October 2026 Hammersmith and Fulham listed £150 for one visit and Kensington and Chelsea £354.40 for four. Councils treat with insecticide only and slots can take time.
What adds to the price?
Extra rooms and visits, stairs and landings, moving heavy furniture, night or weekend appointments, parking and the £18 Congestion Charge in the central zone. A further follow-up visit is typically £80 to £130.
